Technical reps and testing labs support
customer plants around-the-clock


Technical and customer equipment service representatives are always on call to provide support for virtually every aspect of the can as it takes its journey through the customer’s plant.  Involvement begins when the cans are received and continues all the way through to the secondary packaging operation.  We encourage our customers to view our technical service and customer equipment representatives as an extension of their own workforce.  In short, we aren’t satisfied until you are.

Geographically located for quick customer response, representatives maintain constant contact with customers.  From regulatory compliance questions to food safety and materials, technical services representatives are there to help ensure your canning operation runs as smoothly as possible.  Additionally, customer equipment professionals provide around-the-clock seamer service.

Representatives also bring input back to Silgan on issues ranging from performance to structural improvements.  Silgan’s extensive testing laboratories located at the Tech Center in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin are yet another customer service resource—as well as a technology and manufacturing tool.

Nine separate labs are in place to test coatings, food processing, sensory analysis, analytical chemistry and microbiology, shelf life/container evaluation, physical testing, metallurgy, mechanical and physical properties and shipping and distribution concerns.

Tests conducted here frequently solve food processing and packaging problems.  Even more often, they isolate potential problems and prevent them.  More than 30 years of historical data helps expedite the process.
